QEH AUTOMATED CPR DEVICE
I had no idea that such a device not only existed or was needed tbh, or that the QEH didn’t have one. This device will assist the first Responders involved in saving a trauma victims life by helping keeping the patients heart beating. Without this machine, when a trauma case comes into the ER, the following could happen.
ER staff / First Responders would take turns keeping the trauma patient alive using their physical strength. Because it is such a specific number of compressions happening and physical strength is needed, staff / first responders line up and take turns doing this. This machine will assist the team so they can focus on the other emergency needs of the patient. This is beyond incredible and unimaginable to me. I cried when a few ER doctors demonstrated to me what could happen.
The total cost of this machine is $17,000. My goal initially was to raise $1000 dollars towards this cause as well donated time / photography of doctors, first responders, nurses, er staff, rcmp and more for this project. You will also get this cool t-shirt that has been graciously donated by Golden Apparel.
This machine literally keeps you heart beating. and we don’t have one at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital or on PEI.
I mean, if it was me in the trauma unit, laying on a stretcher, i would want to have the most effective situation being used on me while i was fighting for my life.

Thanks to an outpouring of generosity from the community, and a $10, 000 gift from Maximum Canada – Deltaware Division, an Automated CPR Device is on order for the QEH Emergency Department. Special thanks to all of the First Responders, and QEH Medical staff who also were happy to help. So excited to have been part of this campaign with the QEH Foundation.
